WP1: Establishment of the Migration and Integration Research Centre (MIRC) at Tallinn University

Lead partner: Tallinn University

Objectives: The objective of this work package is to establish the Migration and Integration Research Centre (MIRC) at TU as an internationally recognized institution in migration and integration research, as well as a reliable partner for policy- makers, civil society organizations and public media organizations, engaged in the field of migration and integration in Estonia and beyond. In addition, in this work package TU will learn from best practices of the partners regarding how to establish and operate effective networking with policy-makers, civil society organizations and public media organizations.

WP2: Quality of research and publishing and early career researcher capacity-building

Lead partner: University of Sussex

Objectives: While the overall research output at TU is quite competitive, the number of articles published in journals with a high impact factor and in leading book series is still modest. Also, the visibility as an institution is modest. The aim of this work package is to exchange best practices, provide the know-how and develop a mindset that would target increasing research publication impact and volume. Improving publication impact should also improve the visibility of TU as a research intensive institution.

WP3: Increasing capacity to compete for research funding

Lead partner: Rosikilde University

Objectives: The organisation of research funding has led to a situation where top universities increasingly work in closed clusters in order to be compatible. This WP should provide support in order to open these venues more for TU and also improve the capacity of researchers and research assistants at TU to compete for research funding.

WP4: Dissemination and communication

Lead partner: Tallinn University

Objectives: The objective of this WP is to increase the impact and visibility of research excellence at TU and migration and integration research in general. While several other WP-s also include features of dissemination (e.g. the book and special issue published under WP2, networking activities and presentations made under WP4), this WP will aim to provide information for both researchers and policy actors as well as the broader publics.

WP5: Project management

Lead partner: Tallinn University

Objectives: WP5 will carry out both efficient and effective coordination and management of the project. The objective of coordination activities is to achieve high quality results from the collaborative synergy of project partners. The objective of project management is to ensure that project activities will be carried out according to the strategy and timescale of the project.
