MIRNet researchers and ESR’s met with three stakeholders from the public sector, each responsible for different aspects of migration and integration governance. The Association of Estonian Cities and Rural Municipalities coordinates the training and capacity-building programmes for local government officials and has played an important part in arranging the exchange of know-how and best practices in regard to the reception and settlement of Ukrainian refugees.
With high officials of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the MIRNet team discussed the strategies and policy design mechanisms in terms of addressing acute challenges and the outlook on future trends and responses to crises.
With the Deputy Mayor of Tallinn coordinating areas of education and culture, topics related to the settlement and integration in the largest municipality of Estonia.
The full day of exchanging experiences and planning activities for the near future with key public sector stakeholders enabled MIRNet to expand its network and offer expertise in migration and integration-related research and training.
