MIRNet Hosts a Stage at the 2022 Opinion Festival

MIRnet hosted a stage at the annual democracy festival Opinion Festival held annually in Paide, a small town in the heart of Estonia, with three panels dedicated to migration and integration. The thought-provoking discussions were moderated by our very own Leif Kalev and Mari-Liis Jakobson.


The first panel focused on migration turn in Estonia with its challenges and opportunities. The panelists included Piret Hartman (Minister of Culture of Estonia), Riina Solman (Minister of Public Administration of Estonia), Dmitri Moskovtsev (Head of the Integration Foundation). 

The second panel discussed the controversies around various facets of citizenship with Raivo Vetik from MIRNet, Yana Toom (Member of the European Parliament, Center Party), Piret Hartman (Minister of Culture of Estonia), Kristina Kallas (Head of the Eesti 200 party).

The third panel asked the question whether migration crises are becoming the new normal in Europe with Uku Särekanno (Deputy Executive Director at Frontex, Eero Janson (CEO at NGO Pagulasabi), and Prof. Garbi Schmidt (Roskilde University)
